Join your group for dinner at a local restaurant in the heart of Buenos Aires. It's the perfect opportunity to start settling into your surroundings and make new friends.
Today, embark on a walking tour of Buenos Aires, where you'll experience its unique spirit, charisma, and charm. We'll visit iconic locations like Plaza de Mayo, Puerto Madero, La Boca and Caminito, San Telmo, Palermo, and Recoleta.
After the tour, enjoy an unforgettable night at Palacio Tango with a tango class, a 3-course dinner, and an enticing show before heading out to Patagonia tomorrow!
After breakfast, take a local flight to El Calafate in southern Argentina, where your Patagonian adventure will begin. Upon arrival at El Calafate Airport, you will meet your local driver, who will transfer you to your hotel in El Chalten, located 3.5 hours away from El Calafate.
During the journey, keep an eye out the window as there are mountains and glaciers at every turn, which makes this corner of Patagonia so unique. Once you arrive in El Chaltén, walk around town with your Trip Leader and enjoy the views of the famous Mount Fitz Roy.
It is important to rest this evening, as tomorrow marks the start of our epic hiking adventure! Have dinner as a group before heading to bed.
Good morning! After breakfast, head to the trailhead at Rio Electrico, located north of the town.
This all-day trek covers 14 miles (22.5 kilometers) and lasts 10-12 hours, taking you through some of the most stunning scenery in the world.
The first 6 miles (10 kilometers) of hiking are flat and gentle. It should take around 3-4 hours as you enjoy the majestic views of Fitz Roy, Glaciar Piedras Blancas, and its lagoon. You'll arrive at Poincenot base camp and begin your ascent to the top of Fitz Roy. The mile climb is challenging, as you'll have to climb over 1,200 feet of elevation on a rocky trail.
After reaching the summit, you can enjoy your lunch before returning to base camp. If you cannot get to the top, you can rest here with the group before walking back to the town of El Chaltén.
On the way back to the town, we'll pass by various landscapes and crystal-clear streams. We'll also visit Laguna Capri, a favorite spot for photographers. After visiting the lagoon, we'll drop down into the valley of El Chaltén.
After such an exciting day, why not relax in the town with a beer at a microbrewery or a hot chocolate with homemade cake?
Today is the perfect day to explore the town of El Chaltén and go on any optional activities you might want to embark on. Here are a few examples…
Hike to Mirador de Los Condors: This hike is ideal for admiring the stunning granite peaks and glaciers beyond El Chaltén.
Hike to Laguna Torre: Laguna Torre is one of the most popular hikes from El Chalten, so put on your hiking boots and get ready for a 13-mile (20-kilometer) trek.
Whitewater Rafting: A 16-kilometer journey through the Río de las Vueltas rapids, offering incredible views and an adrenaline rush.
The day ends with a delicious dinner at The Asadores in El Chaltén, which offers a diverse menu with vegetarian and vegan options.
After having breakfast, you will be driven back to El Calafate.
El Calafate, known locally as "Calafate," is a city on the southern shore of Lake Argentino in the Patagonia region. It is famous for its glaciers and offers visitors breathtaking views of ice blocks.
After you have completed the check-in process at your hotel, take some time to explore this beautiful town. You can visit the Laguna Nimez, located at the edge of town. You can enjoy the stunning views of Lago Argentino and observe several species of birds like flamingos.
After having breakfast, drive from El Calafate to the Perito Moreno Glacier. The route around the edge of Lake Argentino is breathtakingly beautiful, and we will make several stops along the way to take photographs. The area is also well known for sightings of condors or eagles flying over the region.
Prepare for an incredible experience at the Perito Moreno Glacier, which includes, as an optional activity, an exciting Mini Trekking adventure.
A perfect way to end this adventurous day is dinner at La Tablita, featuring mouth-watering estancia-style roasted lamb.
Wake up to your last Argentinian sunrise and take private ground transportation to El Calafate airport, where you will catch your flight back to Buenos Aires.
After arriving in Buenos Aires, you will say goodbye to your new friends before boarding your flight home.
