Today’s hike will be 13 miles (22 kilometers) and take approximately 10-12 hours, varying difficulties from flat terrain to steep inclines. We will go at a comfortable pace so everyone can keep up.
- Take the included transfer to Rio Electrico, just north of town, where your adventure will begin. The path is relatively flat and with gentle inclines to ease you into the day of hiking.
- You will arrive at our first viewpoint, the Piedras Blancas glacier. A bit later, you will leave the forest and end up in a clearing where you can view the peaks of “S,” Saint Exupéry, Poincenot, Fitz Roy, Mermoz, and Guillaumet.

- Climb 1,300 feet (400 meters) of elevation in about 90 minutes to reach Laguna de Los Tres.
- This last part of the trek will be steep, and the path will be rocks and stairs. It is challenging for most travelers, but what awaits you at the top will be worth it!

The first section of the river is 3.7 miles (6 kilometers) of calm and meandering waters, providing an opportunity to take in the views of Cerro Fitz Roy, its satellite spires, the Andean forest, and the steppe, as well as observe native fauna and birdlife. It’s an ideal time to get familiar with the raft and practice the paddling and safety techniques that will be explained. The second part advances into a canyon area. After navigating through the first rapid, known as “Portage,” we will encounter a succession of class III to III+ rapids for 10 km. This section is classified as moderate and takes about 3.5 hours to complete.
