Bem-vindo a Portugal! Your adventure begins at Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado International Airport, where included transport takes you to your hotel in the heart of the city.
After settling in, you can take a walk around the capital of Portugal. The group comes together for a guided walking tour to discover Lisbon's rich history, stunning architecture, and unique attractions.
You can get to know your new friends while enjoying some delicious Portuguese cuisine and begin to settle into your new surroundings!
Drive to Obidos, a picturesque, walled medieval town in central Portugal, celebrated for its well-preserved castle, whitewashed houses with colorful flowers, and charming cobbled streets.
Your Trip Leader will take your group on a walking tour of Obidos through the narrow, winding streets. You will also see the fortified walls of Obidos Castle that surround the town. Don’t miss the opportunity to taste a sample or two of ginjinha, a must-try local specialty of sour cherry liqueur often served in a small chocolate cup.
Continue your final destination, Nazaré, a Portuguese coastal town famous for giant, record-breaking waves and strong maritime heritage. Settle into this laid-back town with your newfound friends and take in Portugal’s coastal vibe.
Opt to rise early and take a morning stroll along the beach for a chance to observe the local fisherman with their fresh catch.
Join your Trip Leader for an orientation walk of Nazaré with stops at the market, a ride up the funicular for sweeping views, and a visit to The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Nazaréth, a revered pilgrimage site located atop the cliffs in the Sítio district.
After the included seafood lunch, a Nazaré specialty, you can have the rest of the day at leisure. Choose to relax on one of Nazaré’s beautiful beaches, take a boat tour to watch dolphins, or get adventurous on an e-bike tour. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace and the possibilities are indeed endless.
Put your hiking shoes on and explore more of Nazaré’s captivating landscapes as you make your way to Farol de Nazaré. This picturesque lighthouse situated at Sāo Miguel Arcanjo Fort, offers panoramic views of Praia do Norte and the Atlantic Ocean.
At Surfer’s Wall, you’ll see a collection of surfboards from famous surfers who’ve conquered the big waves. Here, you will also learn about the underwater canyon and geological factors that create Nazaré's giant waves.
In the afternoon, we will take a local bus to Alcobaça, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its Cistercian Gothic architecture. Time here includes a tile-painting workshop to gain hands-on experience with this traditional craft, and if time permits, a visit to the Monastery of Alcobaça before returning to Nazaré.
Leaving Nazaré and the beaches behind, you’ll go back to Lisbon. But first, we’ll stop at a local winery to taste Portuguese wine and enjoy a picnic lunch in the vineyard.
When we arrive in Lisbon in the early afternoon, you’ll have some free time to explore Portugal’s capital city. Consider visiting Belem Tower, roam Alfama’s narrow streets, or relax at a cafe in Rossio Square.
That evening, the group comes together for a final dinner in Portugal with your friends and share your impressions.
On the final day of our adventure, wake up early to soak in the last morning in Europe together.
Say goodbye to your new friends and depart at any time of day, following instructions from your Trip Leader on using taxis, buses, or local transportation to the airport.
Your Trip Leader can also give you some suggestions if you choose to spend more time in Portugal.
"My trips with U30X are the best part of my year, scratch that, of my life! It’s amazing how a handful of solo travelers can become a group of close friends in a short period of time! This company prioritizes local experiences and sustainability. I can book assured that my traveling will only positively impact the local community. Local guides share their perspectives and expertise, but beyond that, they become friends as well. It’s not rare to keep in touch after the trip. If you’re on the fence, go for it. I’ve never regretted booking an Under30. My most recent was Portugal and it may be my favorite yet!!" -Jessie M.
There are not enough ways for me to describe how amazing this company is. After my first trip I always told people, it wasn't about the location, but the experience that u30x gave me. I have some of the best experiences of my life with u30x, and now a passion for travel. Also, their alumni community and groups are awesome too! -Casey H.
U30X is such an amazing travel community. Once your trip is over, the experience is not. They keep in touch with their alumni & provide platforms for travel questions, personal development, & community connections in your own backyard! If you're a young person looking to travel I highly recommend U30X! -Heather T.
