Start in Athens with the Acropolis, then trade the usual island circuit for Syros and Tinos. You will sail to hidden beaches, hike to the ancient inscriptions at Grammata, join a marble workshop in Steni, and share local meals in villages most travelers never reach.

Meet in Athens and take your included airport transfer to a centrally located hotel. After check-in, ease into the trip with a walk around the city and your first group dinner at a traditional Greek tavern.
Please be through customs and ready to go by 2:00 p.m.
The trip ends on Tinos on Day 7. You can depart at any time, and your Trip Leader will help you plan your onward ferry to Piraeus for Athens or to Mykonos.
Flight booking details are sent after registration, so wait for those instructions before purchasing airfare.
Moderate. Expect 3-4 active hours on most days, including walking tours, swimming, and a moderate hike on Syros to the Grammata inscriptions. The hike includes hills, so you should be ready to sweat a bit.
This trip balances structured days with real breathing room. The Acropolis tour, ferries, boat day, and village experiences keep things moving, but you will still have open time for beaches, wandering, and slow afternoons on Tinos.
Your longest stretch is on Tinos, a quieter Cycladic island known for marble villages, artisan traditions, and great food. Between Steni, Potamia, and Volax, you get a more local side of Greek island life.
Expect a small group of 8-16 travelers, usually around 8-12. It is social enough for easy friendships, but small enough to keep ferry days, village visits, and dinners feeling personal.
Arrive at Athens International Airport, and take your included transfer to your hotel located in the heart of Athens.

Later, head to the port of Piraeus to catch the ferry to Syros Island. Once you arrive, join your Trip Leader on an orientation walk to learn more about Syros’ rich cultural heritage, which blends Orthodox and Catholic influences.
Syros is known for its excellent food, and this evening you’ll enjoy an included group dinner as you begin to get used to the Greek island life.
Experience a one-of-a-kind excursion that blends sea exploration and hiking through the quiet, hidden corners of Syros Island that most visitors never see.
Discover Kini, a small fishing village on Syros' west coast. From here, you’ll board a private boat cruising toward the island’s most hidden and untouched beaches. Expect turquoise waters, rocky landscapes, and the peaceful stillness of the Aegean.
Cool off with a swim and relax at Amerikanos Beach. Then follow a coastal hike leading to Grammata, a site of mystery and deep meaning. Etched into the rocks, you’ll find ancient inscriptions from sailors and travelers carved more than 2,000 years ago with messages of longing, hope, and survival.
Enjoy one more final morning on the island of Syros before taking the ferry to Tinos, a serene Greek island in the Cyclades, known for its picturesque marble villages, artisan crafts, and tranquil atmosphere.
Spend the afternoon your way. You can explore beautiful beaches like Kolimbithra Beach, or perhaps visit the Church of Panagia Evangelistria, a major pilgrimage site in Greece.
In the evening, gather with your newfound friends for an included dinner to experience some of Greece’s most delicious cuisine. Food lovers, Tinos Island is made for you.

You’ll begin your day’s journey at the village of Volax, a small village known for its ancient tradition of basket weaving and the Folklore Museum. Go on a guided walking tour to learn more about the island's culture and long history.
Enjoy a traditional “Maranda” meal with local favorites like Fhassi, Tinian cheese, louza, and house wine or raki, offering an authentic taste of rural life in Tinos. Afterwards, have free time to soak up your last afternoon on the Greek islands.

What should I pack?
Please be eco-friendly.
We recommend using a travel backpack for your convenience, or a medium-sized suitcase if you prefer. A daypack is also essential for carrying everyday items. Since the space is limited on transportation, each person can take only one main piece of luggage. You will be responsible for carrying your own luggage.

Yes, this trip takes you off the typical tourist trail through Greece’s Cycladic islands, but these areas are still home to beautiful beaches where you’ll have time to relax in the sun. Here, you can find out more about the culture of these communities and not just sipping cocktails in the sun.
Though this trip is not strenuously active, there are chances to swim, join walking tours, and enjoy a moderate hike. So do expect to be active.

What are the toilets like in Greece?
Greece uses flushable, Western-style toilets. You may need to pay a small fee (50 cents or a euro) to use public toilets in some areas. Also, don’t flush toilet paper – throw it in the bins provided instead.
Can I drink the water in Greece?
The water in Athens is potable, but on most islands it’s not safe to drink. Wherever water is not potable, there is easy access to bottled water for purchase. We recommend buying large refillable water bottles to reduce plastic waste.
Is tipping common in Greece?

The average temperature in Greece from May to September ranges from pleasant 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21 degrees Celcius) to hot 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celcius).
The warmest months in Greece are July & August, while May, June, and September have more pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds.
Athens, Syros, and Tinos typically enjoy a Mediterranean climate, with comfortable average temperatures throughout the year.
By Greek standards, the winters are mild and the summers are cool thanks to the seasonal winds known as the “meltemia”.
When is the best time to visit Greece?
The best time to visit Greece’s islands is during the warmer months of May-September. During these summer months, you can fully enjoy beautiful beaches and summer activities. July and August are the country’s busiest months, so we’ll avoid these months in order to minimize crowds as much as possible.
What is the nightlife like in Greece?
Greece offers a lively nightlife with beach clubs featuring DJs as well as rooftop venues and themed bars. Nightlife typically starts late, around midnight, and goes until early morning. If you prefer to avoid loud music, you can still relax on the island.
How much should I budget for food and activities?
Bringing approximately 300 USD in cash, which can be exchanged into euros for purchases where credit cards aren’t accepted.
Lunch ranges from 8-15 euros, and dinners can vary depending on the restaurant, but expect to pay 15-25 euros per meal.

How much time do we spend in Athens?
There is limited time spend in Athens. There is an included group dinner on Day 1 and an included guided tour of the Acropolis on Day 2. Then in the early afternoon on Day 2, you will depart Athens and trave to Syros island.
If you are interested in spending more time in Athens, we suggest either arriving early or extending your trip.
What type of food will be offered on this trip?
Breakfasts will be served at your hotel. Dinners will be in local taverns serving Greek dishes recommended by your local Trip Leader.
