Trip Overview

Day 1

Arrive in Costa Rica

Welcome to Costa Rica! Upon landing in San José, meet your fellow travelers and begin your adventure with a cultural evening. Enjoy local cuisine at our welcome dinner and an opportunity to connect with your group.

Your Trip Leader will guide you through essential information for the week and introduce you to Costa Rica's renowned "Pura Vida" lifestyle.

Day 2

From the City to the Rainforest

After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of San José's main sights before departing the capital and heading towards the verdant rainforest near Arenal Volcano.

Your accommodation for the next three nights is Rancho Margot, a distinctive eco-lodge that combines sustainability, nature, and adventure. Check in, explore the property, and unwind in the evening amidst the natural sounds of the rainforest.

Enjoy a farm-to-table dinner on premises of the eco-lodge, which operates as a working organic farm.

Day 3

Volcano Views & Rainforest Trails

Start your day immersed in nature before exploring Rancho Margot and discovering its acclaimed sustainable farming and conservation initiatives.

Stroll the property on a guided tour, learning how the farm runs almost entirely off its own land: biodigesters that turn waste into cooking gas, water heated naturally by compost and geothermal energy, and handmade soaps and produce grown on-site.

Eat lunch after learning exactly where your food comes from. Then, hike the renowned Arenal 1968 Trail, crossing ancient lava flows and taking in breathtaking views of Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal.

Day 4

Waterfalls, Hot Springs & Adventure

Embrace a slow-travel morning on your last day at the eco-lodge. Enjoy a fresh cup of Costa Rican coffee and your farm-to-table breakfast. Take in the lush sounds of the rainforest in the hammock outside your bungalow.

For those craving more adventure, add an optional zipline and hanging-bridges adventure for an adrenaline rush above the rainforest canopy.

In the afternoon, take included transportation to cool off beneath the breathtaking La Fortuna Waterfall before soaking in Costa Rica's famous natural hot springs. Wrap up your day exploring the lively town of La Fortuna, with time to enjoy local shops, explore local cuisine, and a night out with your friends.

Day 5

From the Rainforest to the Pacific Coast

Today, you'll depart from the volcano region and head towards the stunning Pacific coast, stopping in Tárcoles to observe the area's renowned crocodiles.

Enjoy lunch at Playa Hermosa, a black sand beach famous for its surf.

By afternoon, you'll arrive in Manuel Antonio, where tropical beaches, jungle-covered hills, and incredible wildlife set the stage for the second half of your adventure.

At night, take a guided night tour of Sukia Park reserve to spot nocturnal mammals, frogs, and reptiles while learning about their moonlight behavior.

Day 6

Wildlife & Beach Paradise

Discover Manuel Antonio National Park, one of Costa Rica's most breathtaking protected areas. As you walk the lush jungle trails, watch for sloths, monkeys, tropical birds, and other remarkable wildlife.

End your hike at Playa Espadilla, consistently ranked as one of the best beaches in the world.

After lunch,  enjoy beach time, or try an optional surf lesson to see why Costa Rica is renowned as a premier surfing destination.

Day 7

Canyoning in the Jungle

Wake to another cup of Costa Rican coffee and try “gallo pinto” the famous Costa Rican breakfast dish.

Today is all about adrenaline. Rappel down waterfalls, cross suspension bridges, and zipline through the jungle canopy on an included canyoning adventure.

In the afternoon, unwind in the warm Pacific waters at Playa Espadilla. After your activities, enjoy some leisure time on the beach, grab a tropical drink, or shop for souvenirs while exploring the lively vibe of Quepos & Manuel Antonio.

Day 8

Live Like a Local

Start the morning by visiting the local farmer's market before stopping at the inspiring El Cocal community project. Take a local ferry to the island of El Cocal to visit one of Under30Experiences’s flagship community sustainability projects.

Practice your Spanish with the locals, learn to cook empanadas, and weave friendship bracelets together. This is one of U30X’s top cultural experiences, and better yet, it supports a community with limited resources.

Spend the afternoon however you choose. Relax on the beach, enjoy the sunshine, or upgrade your experience with an unforgettable sunset catamaran cruise along Costa Rica's Pacific coastline.

Day 9

Relax & Depart Costa Rica

Enjoy one final Costa Rican breakfast before saying goodbye to your fellow travelers and beginning your journey home.

You'll leave with unforgettable memories, lifelong friendships, and a true taste of Costa Rica's incredible adventure, wildlife, and "Pura Vida" lifestyle.
