Greece offers a lively nightlife with beach clubs featuring DJs as well as rooftop venues and themed bars. Nightlife typically starts late, around midnight, and goes until early morning. If you prefer to avoid loud music, you can still relax on the island.
The best time to visit Greece’s islands is during the warmer months of May-September. During these summer months, you can fully enjoy beautiful beaches and summer activities. July and August are the country’s busiest months, so we’ll avoid these months in order to minimize crowds as much as possible.
Greece has a Mediterranean climate. The summers are typically hot and dry, and the winters are mild and wet.
The average temperature in Greece from May to September ranges from pleasant 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21 degrees Celcius) to hot 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celcius).
The warmest months in Greece are July & August, while May, June, and September have more pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds.
Athens, Syros, and Tinos typically enjoy a Mediterranean climate, with comfortable average temperatures throughout the year.
By Greek standards, the winters are mild and the summers are cool thanks to the seasonal winds known as the “meltemia”.
Credit cards are widely accepted by stores, hotels, and restaurants in Greece. However, smaller cafés and local shops may only take cash, so it’s best to carry enough euros for small purchases. Please let your credit card company know you’re traveling overseas.
If you’re not from an EU country, you’ll need to buy a local SIM card or activate international roaming before your trip. Check roaming fees with your provider beforehand to avoid hefty fees.
Tipping is not obligatory; however, it is appreciated, especially when excellent service is provided.
The water in Athens is potable, but on most islands it’s not safe to drink. Wherever water is not potable, there is easy access to bottled water for purchase. We recommend buying large refillable water bottles to reduce plastic waste.
Greece uses flushable, Western-style toilets. You may need to pay a small fee (50 cents or a euro) to use public toilets in some areas. Also, don’t flush toilet paper – throw it in the bins provided instead.
Greece is largely accepting of LGBTQIA+ visitors, especially in big cities and on popular islands. Smaller towns and rural areas may be more conservative, and public affection might attract unwanted attention.

There are not enough ways for me to describe how amazing this company is. After my first trip I always told people, it wasn't about the location, but the experience that u30x gave me. I have some of the best experiences of my life with u30x, and now a passion for travel. Also, their alumni community and groups are awesome too!

Just returned from my second trip with Under30Experiences. My first trip was to the Costa Rica rainforest. My most recent trip was to Iceland. Both trips were such an amazing experience. I loved learning about Iceland and its origins. I enjoy the small groups and I made some great new friends! Recommend them for anyone wanting to travel alone or with a couple of friends.
I was so scared to travel abroad alone and then I came across their website and they made international travel so easy! And the people I’ve met on the trips are some amazing individuals! I’ve done 6 of their trips and plan on continuing to do even more!!
Just came back from their Egypt trip. Definitely one of my top favorite trips I’ve ever taken! I knew ahead of time that I would want to go with a tour to Egypt, and under30experiences seemed like the best fit. I met amazing fellow travelers and loved our guide Mohamed who did an amazing job! Our days were pretty packed while also having some time for rest. Expect to wake up early to beat the crowds and to overall enjoy your time at the sites! Definitely planning on doing another trip with Under30experiences in the future!
