Enjoy a guided walking tour of the infamous Comuna 13 neighborhood. Previously one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Colombia, Comuna 13 is now very safe for tourists, and the locals can’t wait to show you around.
Comuna 13 exemplifies how a crime-ridden neighborhood can become a cultural hub, boasting beautiful murals, graffiti art, hip-hop music, and breakdancing.
Ride the neighborhood’s unique outdoor escalators and hear how proud the people are to be the only neighborhood in the Americas with public transportation of this type.
Later, enjoy the upscale El Poblado neighborhood known for its cosmopolitan vibe and nightlife. El Poblado is also where we host our Digital Nomad Trips for remote workers.
Catch an afternoon flight from Medellin to Santa Marta. Upon arrival, hop in your private transportation, which will drive you to your boutique hotel near Tayrona National Park.
Located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta Mountains that rise 18,500 feet (5,650 meters) above sea level, Tayrona offers nature lovers outstanding landscapes and unforgettable sunsets.
This evening, relax at the hotel with your new group of friends.
Tayrona National Natural Park has more than fourteen beautiful beaches. The golden sand and its diversity in fauna and flora of both land and sea make this place an absolute paradise.
Take a hike through the park and admire your lush surroundings. We’ll go at our own pace, so this activity is perfect for everyone.
After your hike, visit Cabo San Juan Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Tayrona National Park due to its unparalleled beauty. Soak in the sun's rays or dip in the bright blue water.
Enjoy your last morning in Santa Marta, explore the beach, or relax by the pool.
After lunch, depart to Cartagena.
Welcome to Cartagena, the second oldest city in the Americas.
From its history to its food and nightlife within the walled city–Cartagena is incredible! Sit on the veranda of Cartagena’s many cafes and enjoy the city's famous coconut rice and ceviche.
Explore Cartagena and visit the most important landmarks, such as the official entrance to the walled city with the Clock Tower.
Later today, you can experience Cartagena's vibrant sunsets and stunning skyline. Watching the orange sun dip into the Caribbean Sea while sailing around the calm bay is an unmatched experience.
After breakfast, head to San Basilio de Palenque, the first “free town” in the Americas. Palenque was founded by escaped slaves in colonial times.
Learn about the Palenque’s unique culture, traditions, and rituals. This village has an incredible derivation of African culture that has evolved on its own in South America. UNESCO named it an “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.”
You’ll be invited into the home of one of Palenque's community leaders to understand better what life is like for the Palenqueros.
On the final day of our adventure, wake up and soak in the last morning in Cartagena together.
Have your last cup of Colombian coffee while wandering within the walled city. Gaze in astonishment at Fort San Felipe, one the most prominent Spanish forts in the world.
Take included private transportation with your group back to the airport for your flight back home.
"I joined the U30X Colombia trip for my birthday and had a blast. After getting acclimated with the old city of Cartagena, we sipped some famous Colombian coffee made using a special syphon! The next day we all celebrated my birthday in Palenque, the first freed slave settlement in all the Americas. The crew set up surprises including a special blessing from the town's healer and a birthday cake. It was one of my most memorable birthdays! The next day we went to the beach where we thoroughly enjoyed the white sand beaches located on the city's island. We ended the trip with a visit to the new part of Cartagena, Bocagrande. It was very modern and lived up to its name "Little Miami". I can't wait to visit again. Thank you U30X." -Michella C.
"Under30Experiences has been such an incredible life changing experience! There's so many positive things about this fantastic group of people. That said, I've love to travel but it's not easy finding people to join you internationally. Under30Experiences has allowed me to fulfill my wanderlust by having an array of destinations you can go and you'll meet like minded people from around the country that accompany you on these trips. The trip leaders are fantastic as well, truely the most caring and unforgettable people. The trips are very safe, organized and packed full of adventure from the time you step off the plan until departure. I've already been to Bali and Colombia and I'm excited for Peru, France and Iceland this year with the group. Additionally, what's nice about these trips, is you do them in just a few days if you don't have a lot of vaca and over a holiday. Definitely recommend under30experience to anyone who loves to travel and needs great people to experience it with." -Ashley H.
"I have been on 8 trips (Colombia, Ecuador/Galapagos, France to Spain, Spain, Starter Costa Rica, Explore Iceland, Costa Rica Rain Forest, and Turkey) with U30X. U30X has been my favorite company to travel with and excels at finding the most unique and amazing accommodations and activities while maintaining their sustainability values. Their tour leaders are also phenomenal and are way more like friends that know the area than just a tour guide. I highly recommend traveling with U30X if you enjoy meeting like-minded travelers, having adventures of a lifetime, and have a genuine desire to explore and try new things." -Nicole R.
