Ensure you have an updated passport with you. It must be valid for at least six months beyond the last date of your trip. Please consult the U.S. Department of State if you have any more questions.
Make sure your passport is not damaged. Conditions that may require you to replace your passport include water damage, a significant tear, unofficial markings on the data page, missing or torn-out visa pages, a hole punch, or other damages.

You will be staying in a local and eco-friendly hostal (not a hostel) in the center of Barcelona. Hostals are usually small, family-owned accommodations in Spain and are not to be confused with hostels.
For most of your time in Spain, you will be staying in a country house built by local artisans and using natural and sustainable building materials. It is located in the middle of the mountains with endless panoramic views. The on-site restaurant offers signature and plant-based cuisine, all prepared with organic products sourced directly from their own farm.
Accommodations are double occupancy. Solo travelers will be paired with someone of the same gender.
You can request a friend to be your roommate during check-in.
If you'd prefer not to have a roommate, private room options are available upon request, subject to hotel availability for an extra charge. Please contact bookings@under30experiences.com for more details.
Moderate - This trip is a good mix of activity and relaxation and includes moderate physical activities.
Participants should expect to be active for 3-4 hours on most days. An active lifestyle is helpful, though not required, for enjoying the trip.
Of course! This trip is yours to enjoy, and participation in any activity is entirely optional. We also can help you set up other optional activities if you'd rather do that.
Just be aware that opting out of included activities does not reduce the price of your trip.
The first two nights of this itinerary are spent in Barcelona. Day 2 will be spent exploring the main city sights, including the world-famous La Sagrada Família and a Trip Leader-led walking tour of the city.
On the morning of Day 3, you will take a Trip Leader-led walking tour of the Barceloneta district (the city’s coastline) and the medieval and trendy districts of Barcelona: Born, Gothic, and Raval.
Yes, there is a basic dress code that travelers should follow. La Sagrada Família is a Catholic church, so decent dress is required according to the following limitations:
Catalonia comprises four provinces: Barcelona, Girona, Lleida, and Tarragona. The region’s climate is diverse, with the coastal provinces (Barcelona, Girona, and Tarragona) enjoying a Mediterranean climate. Moreover, its coastline boasts some of the country's most spectacular beaches.
Known worldwide for its stunning architecture, numerous museums, art galleries, and cultural events, Catalonia is also a real visitor’s paradise. Barcelona City and its neighboring towns offer visitors more than one hundred museums. In addition, the works of architect Gaudí seem to be around just about every corner!
You’ll travel in comfortable, private vehicles from Barcelona to the farmhouse in Girona and then back to Barcelona. For your day trip, you will also have private transportation to Costa Brava and the Pyrenees mountains.
During your day trip to Nuria Valley in the Pyrenees mountains, you’ll enjoy a 45-minute ride on a public rack railway to see the valley and mountainous landscapes.
April, May, September, and October are the best months to visit Spain. This period offers warm temperatures and fewer crowds, providing a pleasant travel experience.
Since July and August are very hot with lots of crowds, we don’t operate trips to Spain during this time of year.
Check out the full Spain packing guide.
Yes. Spain has two associated plug types, types C and F. Type C has two round pins, and plug type F has two round pins with two earth clips on the side. Spain operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.
We suggest purchasing a universal power adapter to charge your electronics.
The lighter, the better! If you only have a rolling suitcase, that will work, but if you can get your hands on a more mobile bag, like a large backpack, that would be better. We take all forms of transportation and some guesthouses and hotels don’t have elevators.
Don’t forget a daypack for your personal gear, food, and drinks for the day.
Laundry will be available at the farmhouse in Girona for an additional fee (ask your Trip Leader for details).
We suggest bringing 300 EUR (~335 USD) in cash for places that do not accept credit cards.
This is not a total cash amount that you should expect to spend on your trip. Please consider your own spending habits for additional expenses such as snacks, souvenirs, and optional activities.
ATMs are available in the cities and towns we visit. Although you can withdraw Euros from any ATM in Spain, it's a good idea to come with some local currency just in case.
Also, notify your bank and credit card company of your travel plans to avoid any issues with overseas transactions.
Stores, hotels, and restaurants in Spain widely accept credit cards. However, smaller cafés and shops may not, so you should carry enough cash to cover small purchases. Please let your bank know you’re traveling overseas.
It is safe to drink water from taps in Spain unless otherwise marked. However, tap water might taste different from what you’re used to. Restaurants always serve bottled water, but for environmental reasons, we recommend using a refillable water bottle instead of buying bottled water.
Everyone has the right to feel safe when traveling, and Spain is one of the safest countries in the world for LGBTQIA+ travelers.
Spain is a progressive country regarding LGBTQIA+ rights and equality, and public opinion is very positive, with most Spanish people supporting LGBTQIA+ rights.
Spain is a safe and welcoming destination for LGBTQIA+ travelers, especially in tourist hubs and big cities like Barcelona. LGBTQIA+ travelers may encounter more conservative views in rural areas and small towns, but the risk of experiencing overt discrimination in Spain is generally very low.

U30X is such an amazing travel community. Once your trip is over, the experience is not. They keep in touch with their alumni & provide platforms for travel questions, personal development, & community connections in your own backyard! If you're a young person looking to travel I highly recommend U30X!
There are not enough ways for me to describe how amazing this company is. After my first trip I always told people, it wasn't about the location, but the experience that u30x gave me. I have some of the best experiences of my life with u30x, and now a passion for travel. Also, their alumni community and groups are awesome too!
Traveling with U30X has been life changing for me. I've made lifelong friends with both travelers and staff. I can't come up with enough good things to say about the company, the people, and the experiences I've had!
Just returned from my second trip with Under30Experiences. My first trip was to the Costa Rica rainforest. My most recent trip was to Iceland. Both trips were such an amazing experience. I loved learning about Iceland and its origins. I enjoy the small groups and I made some great new friends! Recommend them for anyone wanting to travel alone or with a couple of friends.
I was so scared to travel abroad alone and then I came across their website and they made international travel so easy! And the people I’ve met on the trips are some amazing individuals! I’ve done 6 of their trips and plan on continuing to do even more!!
My Hike the Inca Trail trip was beyond amazing, and I couldn't have asked for anything more from a trip. Our leaders made us all feel instantly comfortable, and the group was fantastic. The trip was well planned and the hike was unforgettable. Memories to last a lifetime.
