We do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions. Most meals can be modified for special requests and food allergies.
If you have any diet restrictions or allergies, we’ll do our best to arrange a special menu for you as we want everyone to be well-fed!
Please be aware that vegetarianism in Italy is not as common as it might be in your home country and choices in restaurants are very limited. Expect basic options such as soups, salads, cheese, yogurt, and fruits.
Our farmstay in Umbria will be able to accommodate dinners for vegetarians. Those who are vegan or on gluten-free diets may find this region very challenging, and we recommend you bring your own snacks from supermarkets or local markets.
Moderate - This trip is a good mix of activity and relaxation and includes moderate physical activities. Participants should expect to be active 3-4 hours most days and to walk a lot. An active lifestyle is helpful though not required to enjoy the trip.
Weather conditions like heat, humidity, and rain can change conditions and the intensity of the activity.
If you work at a desk all day, expect to do a lot more physical activity than normal.
You will be using a private vehicle for all-day trips.
You will ride a train to and from the small countryside town of Lucca. The train ride is about 1.5 hours from Florence.

Of course! This trip is your trip, and you don’t have to participate in anything you don’t want to. Just be aware that opting out of included activities will not change the price of your trip.
Spring and Fall are optimal months to visit Italy with mild temperatures and fewer crowds. The months of June, July, & August can get very hot and busy; temperatures can reach 92°F. Expect crowds in Rome during those months.
The average temperature in Umbria throughout the year is about 55 °F but can vary depending on altitude. Summer temperatures in Umbria range between 74 °F and 93 °F.
The lighter the better! If you only have a rolling suitcase that will work, but if you can get your hands on a more mobile bag, like a large backpack, that would be better. We take all forms of transportation and some guesthouses and hotels don’t have elevators.
You'll also want a daypack for your personal gear, food, and drinks for the day.
Check out our Ultimate Packing Guide for Italy.
You won’t have an issue finding an ATM in Italy. They are very common. However, the accommodation in Umbria does not have an ATM on site.
Credit cards are widely accepted by stores, hotels, and restaurants in Italy. However, smaller cafés and shops may not accept credit cards so make sure you carry enough cash to cover small purchases. Don’t forget to let your bank know that you’re traveling overseas.
It is safe to drink water from taps in Italy, unless otherwise marked. For environmental reasons, we recommend that you use a refillable water bottle instead of buying bottled water.

U30X is such an amazing travel community. Once your trip is over, the experience is not. They keep in touch with their alumni & provide platforms for travel questions, personal development, & community connections in your own backyard! If you're a young person looking to travel I highly recommend U30X!
There are not enough ways for me to describe how amazing this company is. After my first trip I always told people, it wasn't about the location, but the experience that u30x gave me. I have some of the best experiences of my life with u30x, and now a passion for travel. Also, their alumni community and groups are awesome too!
Traveling with U30X has been life changing for me. I've made lifelong friends with both travelers and staff. I can't come up with enough good things to say about the company, the people, and the experiences I've had!
Just returned from my second trip with Under30Experiences. My first trip was to the Costa Rica rainforest. My most recent trip was to Iceland. Both trips were such an amazing experience. I loved learning about Iceland and its origins. I enjoy the small groups and I made some great new friends! Recommend them for anyone wanting to travel alone or with a couple of friends.
I was so scared to travel abroad alone and then I came across their website and they made international travel so easy! And the people I’ve met on the trips are some amazing individuals! I’ve done 6 of their trips and plan on continuing to do even more!!
My Hike the Inca Trail trip was beyond amazing, and I couldn't have asked for anything more from a trip. Our leaders made us all feel instantly comfortable, and the group was fantastic. The trip was well planned and the hike was unforgettable. Memories to last a lifetime.
